Important 2021 Update: The Return of Our July 4th Parade!
News story from NBC Bay Area about the July 4th Parade:
Check out the Livestream below starting at 10:30am July 4
Orinda’s July 4th tradition, started in the early 1980s by the Orinda Association, is a way to celebrate Independence Day and to celebrate “community.” Thousands of citizens and visitors have gathered in previous years to participate in or watch the parade and attend the numerous events available throughout the day. 2019 has made its own adjustments to this tradition. Perhaps many are tired of spending time at home, browsing social media feeds, or spending hours on the best online poker sites.
This year's parade will start at 11:00 AM - one hour later than usual, to accommodate religious services. Please see the complete Schedule in the tab Events and Activities. All additional details will be provided by June 1st! We anticipate that for group entries or floats that everyone will be asked to stay 5-6 feet apart. Thus, for groups that would normally bring a flat bed truck (such as swim clubs) we would instead suggest bringing one or more cars (convertibles are ideal) and that kids and adults walk along with the cars where possible. Please enter your group in the parade - see the Parade Entry Form. Deadline for all parade entries is Monday June 28th. See you on July 4th! Help Save our Parade
For 38 years the Orinda Association, in collaboration with the City of Orinda, has funded and organized the Orinda Fourth of July Parade and Celebration. The OA has traditionally raised these parade funds from foundations and business sponsorships, which we will again pursue. But this year, with our Orinda business community severely impacted by COVID, we are asking individual Orindans and families to “step up” and fund a substantial amount of the costs of this year’s parade. Visit our GoFundMe page for more information and to help save our parade!
